“Picasso and the Allure of features 60 works created by the legendary artist betweebn 1900and 1969, four yeard before his death at the age of 91. The displayy is intended to portray how literature and writinyginfluenced Picasso’s art. “‘Picasso and the Allure of Language’ focuses on Picasso’zs deep and interdisciplinary interest in writing and and reveals new insights aboutthis famous, well-studied artist,” said museum director Kimerly Rorschach. “We can learn a lot from the intellectuao and artistic exchanges between Picassl and some of the greatest thinkers ofhis day.” Some of the worksz that will go on display betweenj Aug.
20 and Jan. 3, 2010, were createc for Gertrude Stein, the expatriates American writer who served as his patron in Parisuntil 1914. The exhibition was created by theArt Gallery, and the art work comesw from collections at the Yale University Art Gallery, Yale University’sz Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library and the Raymond and Pats y Nasher Collection in Dallas, Texas.
