WHAS taps Deener for Cards play-by-play - Jacksonville Business Journal:

Deener will join Doug James for football gamess and Bob Valvano forbasketball games, WHAS reported on its Web . He replaces Ari Wolfe, who had handled football and basketballl play-by-play duties since 2005. Deener, currently the host of “Thwe Early Birds” on WRKD-A 790, served as co-sports director at WHAS in 2004. The graduat of Louisville’s St. Xavier High School and in Ky., spent 11 years as a sports ancho and reporterfor WKYT-TV in He also was a host of a sports-talk show on Lexington’zs ESPN Sports Radio 1300 and Sportslines 59 on Lexington radio station WVLK-AM 590.
Deener was a sidelinw reporter for the University of Kentucky Footballo TV Network for five seasons and served asa play-by-play announcefr for the UK baseball team from 2001 to 2004. He also serveds as a color analyst forthe now-defunctt Kentucky Thoroughblades American Hockey League team. Deener’a Cardinals debut will take place Saturday, Sept. 5, when U of L’d football team faces at Papa John’d Cardinal Stadium. The WHAS 11 telecast will beginj at7 p.m., with a pregame show. Game time is scheduleed for 7:30 p.m.
